Rosters and directories, 1892-1941 [state publication].

The Adjutant General was charged with maintaining a roster of all military personnel. Included are rosters for officers and/or enlisted men of the Alabama State Troops, the Organized Militia, the National Guard, the First Cavalry of the Guard (including all members), and commissioned officers of the Guard and Naval Militia. The rosters and/or directories may contain lists of the Governor's staff (aides de camp), the general staff, brigades, infantries, and cavalries. Stations of troops, alphabetical lists, and lists by lineal rank are additionally present. The series also includes a muster roll showing name, residence, and rank of Alabama Volunteers in the Spanish-American War of 1898 and a directory of state and federal officials engaged in the administration of the Selective Service Law in the state in 1918.
